Within the Community
The members of the church are actively involved in various community outreach activities: Hand-in-Hand provides support to Louisburg Elementary School; meals are provided for public education meetings in the Fellowship Hall; assistance is given to folks in need through the Good Samaritan Fund; members visit nursing home or provide special programs; and an ongoing Prayer Team offers support to both the congregation and the community-at-large.
LUMC BLESSINGS BOX
As Jesus said in Matthew 25, “what you do on to the least of my children you do on to me.” LUMC sponsors a “blessing box” filled with toiletries and cleaning supplies for the area’s homeless population. Any one may contribute supplies and anybody may take what they need. The box is located near the Fellowship Hall entrance on East Noble Street.

LUMC Zoe Empowerment Group
Dukore “Together We Work” Mamba
January 2021—December 2023
LUMC is partnered with the Zoe Dukore Empowerment Group for 3 years in Rwanda, Africa. Zoe equips vulnerable children such as these with tools and training to overcome life-threatening poverty for good. LUMC has partnered with 3 other groups consistently from 2014 and the Dukore is the 4th group. These children receive training in food security, secure housing, health and hygiene, education, income generation, child rights, community connections, and spiritual strength. This organized group helps the children learn these skills to transform their lives to become productive members of their communities.
LUMC gives $8,500 each year for 3 years to help these vulnerable children change from a life of struggle. One of the ways transformation happens is through grants to start a business. The program does not give handouts to the group but rather they are given the tools and skills to do it for themselves. The Empowerment becomes a family for the orphans and the needed support to completely transform their lives. Church members have visited LUMC’s empowerment groups. LUMC is blessed to be able to participate in this life-giving ministry and mission.
