The United Methodist Women (UWF) is a community of women whose purpose is “to know God and to experience freedom through Jesus Christ to develop a creative, supportive fellowship and to develop and support missions which focus on advocacy for women, children and youth.”
The Louisburg UWF has two “Circles” which have monthly meetings where we have fellowship and pray together, conduct business, and have a program of spiritual learning. One Circle meets in the morning, and one in the evening. In addition, our United Methodist Women:
- go to Louisburg Manor quarterly to share our love of God with the residents there, making flower arrangements for their dining room tables, singing hymns, sharing stories with them;
- serve bereavement meals for those church families who have lost a loved one; and
- lead the organization of our annual Bazaar which raises money to support our church and other charitable initiatives like Boy and Girl Scouts, Happy Camper, Care and Share, Safe Space, Methodist Home for Children, ZOE and UMCoR.
**You do not have to be a member of our church to participate in UWF nor do you have to be an official member of UWF. Involvement is designed to address different needs and life stages of current members and ALL WOMEN – regardless of race, nationality, faith traditions, or church membership. UWF seeks to nurture and welcome ALL WOMEN through Christian spiritual formation, leadership development, creative fellowship, and education so that they can inspire, influence, and impact local and global communities. UWF is Love in Action! ALL WOMEN have an open invitation to attend meetings and UWF events – and are welcome to bring a friend!
If you have questions about the UWF, or wish to join one of our “Circles” or wish to serve as one of our Circles’ Service Helpers*, please contact our UWF President and Circle 1 leader, Bonnie Person 919-496-0514 (bperson30@gmail.com), or our daytime Circle 2 leader, Linda McLaughlin 919-570-9577 (mclaughlin_L@msn.com).
*Service Helpers generally do not attend the monthly meetings (although they are always welcome), but they are invaluable support to our efforts, helping us with food preparation and serving support for bereavement meals, Manor visits, and the annual Bazaar.
