MEET OUR PASTOR
THE REV. MADISON N. HANKAL

The Rev. Madison N. Hankal was appointed to our congregation in June 2010. "Pastor
Madison" has served churches within the North Carolina Annual Conference since 1991. He
has served large and small churches, rural and downtown congregations.
Rev. Hankal began working in full-time ministry as a youth minister and director of
Christian education at various churches in Florida (his home state), before arriving in North
Carolina to pursue his seminary work at Duke Divinity School. After earning his Master of
Divinity degree, he decided to remain in North Carolina, and was ordained by the North Carolina
Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1994, as a Deacon, and in 1996, as an
Elder.
Madison has a wide range of personal interests, including: books, movies, music,
concerts, going to the beach, playing tennis, riding bicycles, disc golf, and travel (he has been to
Israel, Jamaica, Mexico, Costa Rica, Austria, Slovakia, England, as well as several US states).
Rev. Hankal enjoys preaching and teaching, as well as one-on-one spiritual formation.
Specific areas of interests include: Celtic Christianity, Early Church history, Men's Ministry,
Johannine Literature (Gospel of John, the Letters of John, Revelation), and worship planning.
